Second Sufis continue their explorations into live digital performances in their latest outing, Metroplex. The performances now include electronic drums (Mike Gorman). The drums are performed and looped live, and lend the music a more industrial edge. Falling into a theme, these pieces echo the crumbling collapse of layers upon layers of urban sprawl. Overdriven stick solos, searing minor-modal guitar distortions, and bass lines of tortured concrete and steel notwithstanding, Metroplex is the most accessible Second Sufi CD to date. Weston artist and musician Mark Greeno plays Stratocaster on Crush.
